As ICE detentions and deportations ramp up, more and more community members and organizations are creating sanctuary spaces and rapid response groups. The Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition has a phone line to report immigration/ICE raids in the Portland area. If you are witnessing a raid you can call 1-888-622-1510 to get help defending the rights of those being targeted and referrals to services.
The Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice has a volunteer gathering every second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal, Parish Hall, 1704 NE 43rd Ave. They also have a website of upcoming events and actions.
Jobs With Justice has sign ups for their solidarity squad. Members commit to receive training on immigrant and worker rights and rapid response, participate in "Know Your Rights" outreach, and attend demonstrations to support working people and families.
