Class News

We recently started our Storyline project about neighborhoods. We began by brainstorming what we might want and need in a welcoming, inclusive neighborhood. Then table groups created maps based on their vision of an ideal neighborhood. This week, we picked our favorite parts from each group and start to create our class neighborhood map. We will also create characters that live and work in the neighborhood and explore how to work together to solve problems.

We have done a lot in Readers Workshop in the last few weeks, practicing comprehension strategies and how to read "tricky words."

In Writers Workshop we are continuing to learn how to craft powerful personal narratives. Some students are starting on a final draft while others are revising and editing their writing.

In Math we are working on fluency with basic addition and subtraction facts. We will use reflex math periodically in class but I encourage students to practice their math facts at home as well. I sent home a letter with your child's password and sign in. Please let me know if you need another.
